I love guitar plectrum earrings, ever since I saw a girl on the Tube wearing some. I was staring so hard at them that her boyfriend had to push my chin up when they got off the train. I couldn’t help myself, they just looked so damn GOOD!

I was wondering about the etymology of the word, so lets turn to good old Wikipedia. The word “plectrum” is the Latinized form of the Greek πλῆκτρον (pléktron), “anything to strike with, an instrument for striking the lyre, a spear point” and that from the verb πλήττω (pletto), the Attick Greek form of πλήσσω (plesso), “to hit, to strike, to smite, to sting.” So it’s quite a violent term, which I guess adds to the appeal, but out of the striking comes sounds like no other. Does anything beat a good guitar solo? Here’s my favourite (and if you ever read this, this is going out to the Frog.)

Anyway, in homage here are a selection of the best plectrum earrings out there!
